Colleen's First Basketball Camp/Charity Horse Show/Zumba

Colleen attended the Rochester High School girls basketball camp.  She really enjoyed it.  She worked on ball handling, dribbling, shooting, defense and rebounding skills.  At the end of the camp she earned the best ball handler and best shooter award.  Colleen seems to love basketball.  She practices a lot out in the driveway.

The girls have been doing an awesome job with their summer reading.  I don't even have to remind them.  They are even reading extra.  This makes me so proud.  Here is Brooke with one prize she picked out, a jump rope.

I always wanted a horse, but was too busy to own one.  So, I really enjoy taking the girls to the Charity Horse Show at the state fairgrounds.  When they were younger and I was a stay at home mom, we tried finding free things to do for entertainment.  This horse show has become an annual activity for us.  They enjoy seeing the horses, and we take lunchables and snacks to eat while watching.  We also try to pick the winner which is very tough.

Oh my goodness! We had so much fun at Zumba.  Brooke's Daisy troop had a mom and me Zumba night.  I have been wanting to try Zumba for a long time, but I didn't want to take time away from the girls.  Tonight was the perfect chance. I was able to do it with all three of the girls. It was a workout.  Even after about 8 years of dance and gymnastics when I was a kid, I still felt like I was off beat.  I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.  They even said this was the kid version of Zumba.  Good Times!

Bike Ride

Colleen, Brooke, and Ashley

The bike ride was a handful. We were going smoothly until I couldn't stop, and I crashed into Ashley. We rode to the trail. The trail had lots of mulberries on it. Brooke and I rode down the hill and back up, while mom was stretching and Ashley was resting and on the bench. We rode back and had to stop a couple times because of traffic. We made it home tired and hungry. We biked and mom ran 4.2 miles. We had a great and active time.

Summer Vacation Begins

The girls got new haircuts today at Bentley's.  They got 8, 4, and 6 inches off.

NATIONAL RUNNING DAY

I took the girls to the track to celebrate National Running Day. We had a blast.  Colleen ran an entire mile with me.  I only let Brooke run one lap, since she had a soccer game that night.  Ashley ran a lap as well.  The girls picked me a bouquet of flowers and handed them to me when I crossed the finish line. That just made me smile.  We also tried the long jump.

I am such a lucky mom!

Last Day of School 2014

It was a rush to get out the door.  Since I got out of school earlier than the girls, I took over the morning duties.  So, I let them sleep in a little longer.  This was probably not a good choice, since I knew I would take a lot of last day of school pictures.  Unfortunately, Ashley didn't really smile.  She was more concerned with having to go to the bathroom, which resulted in her having to run to the bus stop.  I do see some potential speed from her.
Ashley- Kindergarten
Brooke- 1st Grade

Colleen- 3rd Grade

After school the girls and some of their friends checked out the new Cocoa Blue. Yummy!  I could eat ice cream everyday!

They wasted no time in signing up for the summer reading program. Colleen has finally found a series she enjoys reading, The Diary of a Wimpy Kid Series.  Brooke is reading the Magic Treehouse Tigers in Twilight.  Ashley is working on reading the Elephant and Piggy books by Mo Willems.

Summer Bucket of Fun

Ashley came home with her bucket of summer fun from Ms. Tasker.  She had play doh, chalk, flipping frog, practice sheets, a book To The Rescue by Mercer Mayer, and a photo book.  She is quite the little emergent reader.  We sat down and she tried reading it to me.  I loved it.  She tried breaking words down and stretching them apart.  Too cute!
